Sometimes we forget the innocence that laughter can bring. We become weighed down when we make life’s little situations more important than they are.
Sometimes I forget
To LAUGH at myself
Sometimes we forget the innocence that laughter can bring. Research indicates that children laugh up to 400 times per day and sadly, adults only 15 times per day. Today’s world has serious issues to be certain but many of us have become so serious that we’ve forgotten how to laugh, especially at ourselves. Being able to laugh at yourself is a gift.
It is necessary to get out of the self- imposed bondage that exists when we make ourselves too important. We become weighed down when we make life’s little situations more important than they are. Aren’t you a jester as well as a king or queen? Don’t you simply do silly things and make mistakes and make decisions that in retrospect are amusing? Don’t you also provide the humor for others to be amused by at times? Laughing at your self is an act of self-forgiveness.
It is an act of self- acceptance. The more you are able to laugh at yourself the greater your ability to laugh at the world you live in as well. Laughter is an elixir for the soul. On a physical level muscles and organs are gently massaged as laughter triggers the release of positive chemicals throughout your body.
On a spiritual level it is a link to the deepest and purest part of you. Your soul wants to laugh. Take a look around you right now! Take note of the lighter side of where you are right now. Is your room cluttered? Have you misplaced a number or a note.again? Is your car a mess? Is it possible to see the humor in your own personal foibles and idiosyncrasies? What about your everyday life? Can you see the humor that abounds in others both at home and at work each day?
We all experience what we focus on in life. We will experience the serious and “heavy” side of life if that is what we focus on and conversely, we will experience the lightness of humor in every day life if we choose to focus our attention on it. Our habits, our comfort zones, our “preferred” way of doing things provide reasons to laugh at ourselves. Take a closer look: it’s okay!
Some of the things you think, say and do are pretty funny. Others are able to see it.why not you?
